Spring is coming! So here some colorful tablescaping ideas for hosting this season.

Learn how to add character to your home in this styling series inspired much by stylists of social media, who create a character and exercise their creativity through styling outfits that character may wear for different occasions.

Since I am an interior designer after all, I have zeroed in on a specific aesthetic to bring you inspiration full of character! I am curious as to how imagined characters might live in and style their space. And how we can develop a style translated through our home that speaks to our personality. As much as this is an exercise in styling- this is a series focused on imaginative play and dress up, not with clothes but with interiors.

A Style of One’s Own

The hostess friend is a fun, reliable friend who loves to host guests for every occasion. They have collected lots of tableware, glasses, and napkins over the years. Their tablescapes are bright and funky, for a maximal Scandinavian aesthetic.

1. Black + White … + Pink

A simple curation of neutral decor, with pops of pink. Focused on shape and mixed textures. Mixing neutral patterns together adds interest to any table setting. Pieces reflect each other more in shape than a strict color palette.

2. Opposites Attract

This hostess styling is focused on balance of opposites, between colors, the delicate glassware contrasts the textures of the wooden table, ceramics, and colorful textiles.

3. ORGANIC + EARTHY

Set a more earthy tone when hosting your friends for coffee. This curation follows the same Scandinavian style in the dining chairs and table ware, but with a more digestible color palette.
