Fall is finally here! I don’t know about you but I love the transition from warm summer nights to crisp fall days. I especially love the time spent indoors these next few months. What better way to kick off the season than to update your interiors.

I have a love and hate relationship with decorating for the holidays. Cheap and plastic decorations can end up being out of style next year-round. To make a festive fall home try swapping a few pieces you’ll actually keep!

Here are my favorites in home decor this season (and could easily by upcycled, made, or thrifted):

  1. Pumpkin + Leaf Decor

Wooden pumpkins can add warmth and a rustic touch to your home, while glass pieces can enhance elegance and reflect autumn light. Adding brass elements, such as candleholders or decorative leaves, brings a stylish shine that matches fall’s rich colors. These durable materials offer timeless designs that can be reused each year, making them perfect for eco-friendly decorating.

2. Fun Fall Candles

Incorporating either essential oil candles or spooky-themed ones into your space not only enhances the atmosphere but also supports sustainable and mindful shopping practices. Whether you choose to relax with calming scents or celebrate the season with playful shapes.

3. Mimic Earth’s Fall Colors

Swapping out your cheesy word pillows for timeless patterns and colors inspired by nature can instantly elevate the aesthetic of your living space. Embracing earthy tones, botanical prints, and subtle textures not only enhances your decor but bring the outdoors in.

4. Add Wood Accents

Earthy wood accents enhance a room's rustic charm, making it feel inviting. Consider bowls or baskets made from natural materials for fruit displays or decorative shelf accents. Rattan shades offer soft light.

5. Add Some Warm Layers

As the weather cools, adding cozy duvets and quilts makes your home warm and inviting. This enhances comfort and supports sustainable design by choosing eco-friendly and secondhand materials. Select organic cotton or bamboo options that are breathable and warm, offering a healthy sleeping environment. Pick earth tones and muted patterns to harmonize with your existing decor.

Combine textures by layering a soft quilt with a plush throw on your sofa or bed for added depth and comfort. Vintage quilts add character and charm to your space. Choosing sustainable bedding helps reduce waste, so seek brands that focus on ethical practices and explore thrift shops or online markets for unique finds.

6. Get Ready to Host

Choosing the right glassware can make your gathering special. Affordable, eco-friendly options improve the look of your table and support sustainable design. Amber glass adds a warm feel to your space. Colored glasses in different shades can bring personality to your table. Mixing sets creates a charming, laid-back look for any occasion.

These glasses are versatile for drinks or displaying flowers, blending function with style. Use unique vases as centerpieces to enhance your tablescape. Look for secondhand treasures that add character. They can range from vintage to modern designs, contrasting nicely with your glassware.

By thoughtfully selecting your decor, you can create a welcoming space that showcases your style and supports sustainability. Let your creativity shine!
